Tournament of Heroes II

A fuzzy red dragon, awkwardly flapping and looping its way through the air, finally alights on a sturdy post outside a massive battle arena; a structure of magnitude that surely only the greatest gladatorial matches are ever held here. Either that of the person who built it just had a big ego trip.

Neither of those thoughts matter to the baby dragon, nor indeed do either of them even occur to him. He's just pleased to have been given the important task of posting these notices where everyone can see them. The dragon removes a rolled bundle of papers and a tiny pouch tied around his neck. Out of the pouch rolls a bit of wax, which the dragon softens with a quick jet of flame from his petite little mouth. With a yip of pleasure he slathers the wax all over the backs of the papers (and a bit on the front too) and then stamps them to the post. He waits only long enough to the wax to dry, then meanders his way back to the Shrine proper.

The papers read:

Tournament Rules

General Rules

1) The Tournament system is a tree bracket setup. Eight teams will be fielded with paired off opponents fighting until only two remain.

2) Bye rounds will only apply if there are not enough teams to fill the brackets.

3) There will be three rounds total: Quarter Finals-Semi Finals-Championship.

4) Teams will be randomly selected for first round pairings by Roas Atrades.

5) If desirable, consolation rounds may be added as they were last year in between main battles.

6) There will be a Main Event battle after the regular Tournament. Combatants may or can be decided by current Role Playing plots or from within the Tournament itself.

Battle Rules

1) For each round only a specific number of team members will be allowed to participate.

Round 1: 2
Round 2: 3
Round 3: 4

2) A team member may only participate a total of two times for the whole Tournament.

3) If a team member has been defeated in a round, yet your team advances, he, she, or it will not be allowed to fight again. If he, she, or it is revived before the round is over, then they may continue to be used in battle.

4) Resurrections, Raises, Revivals, etc. may only be used ONCE per round per character. Therefore, a character may only be revived once a round (you all remember why this has to be put into effect). Also, a character cannot be revived if he, she, or it falls to an Instant Death attack. That would defeat the whole purpose.

5) Instant Death attacks are allowed, yet they may only be used once per enemy. Therefore, whether it succeeds or fails, it cannot be used on the same target for the rest of the battle. Instant Death attacks will still be decided by a coin toss of the Battle Announcer, Alis.

6) Opposing teams will be required to e-mail their chosen team members for each round to the Battle Announcer in order to maintain the integrity of the battle.

7) Unless there is a single person not participating in any battles, a Battle Announcer will be assigned from the pool of non-active team owners. (Alis, who is not competing, has graciously offered to serve as Announcer for the Tournament of Heroes II.) As Announcer it is your job to start a battle, make judgment calls if there is an objection, and flip the coin for Instant Death attacks.

8) A battle is concluded when the fielded members of a team are either all defeated or the team owner concedes.

Item and Equipment Rules

1) A character may be armed with the best possible equipment he, she, or it can have from their game or show.

2) A character may only carry limited quantities of disposable one-time use items. Quantities are as follows:

3 healing items
3 mana/magic restoring items
1 revival item

Any other items are limited to three apiece. Using an example with Final Fantasy, a character could conceivable bring three potions, three ethers, and a phoenix down, but also three antidotes, three remedies, three speed drinks, etc.

3) Items on a character must be from his, her, or its specific universe. Once in combat items can be traded with other team members, but not before.

4) Items on a specific character should be a part of the email to the Battle Announcer in order to maintain the integrity and honesty of the battle.

Other Rules

1) Role Playing is allowed and encouraged during the Tournament. This event is all about fun, and playing around with all our characters is just that. Peanut gallery comments are always fun to see.

2) Events: Throughout the Tournament it is expected that we will all initiate mini-events to take place to enhance the Tournament's overall story. Be careful out there.
