Prologue: The Times of Old

Eons ago, our world was home to several highly advanced civilizations. These civilizations lead to such modern legends as those of Atlantis. These civilizations possessed highly advanced technology of a kind never seen since, and had also created various weapons that were able to harness magical power found throughout the world. This was not to last, however. People had grown petty and selfish. War became constant. The technology of the time, combined with legendary magical weapons, resulted in wars much more deadly than even those in use today. The world was in peril, and it was finally destroyed when the dark god Zophar arrived. No signs of these ancient civilizations survived Zophar's arrival except for legends describing them. Althena, a goddess of light and love, saw what was occurring on this world. She had already converted our nearest neighbor, the moon, into a world teaming with life and magic, and renamed it Lunar. She used this newly created world to save as much of our world's life as possible. On this new world, the ancestral home of humanity came to be known as the Blue Star. As her final action to attempt to save the Blue Star, she left another goddess, Lucia, on the Blue Star who will awaken when the time was right to bring it back to life.

All on Lunar was not totally peaceful. Some descendants of the people Althena saved from the destruction of the Blue Star turned to a life of evil. Wars and conflict still occurred on Althena's new world. There was one difference in these battles, however. When humans arrived from the Blue Star, they were forced to leave all but the must basic technology behind. This resulted in wars that were less destructive than those on the Blue Star, and wars that Althena could stop before they became too large. However, even Althena would be threatened by those who have succumbed to the dark forces on her new world. As a final gift to make up for being forced to leave behind their technology, she allowed people to be able to access her magical power. At first, this was completely reasonable, but soon people had grown skilled enough with magic to be a threat even to the goddess. Her first counter to this threat was the four dragons of the Dragon Tribe, but she feared that even they may not strong enough to defend her. Soon, she had no choice but to entrust her protection to four heroes, who were lead by a human called a Dragonmaster. A Dragonmaster was able to use the tremendously powerful magic of the Four Dragons. Lead by the Dragonmaster, the Four Heroes never failed in their mission -- to keep peace alive on Lunar.

Throughout it's history, Lunar fell under the shadow of darkness two times. The first was during the final time when Althena was born in a human form named Luna. A former member of the Four Heroes, Ghaleon, turned to evil to avenge the death of his closest friend, Dragonmaster Dyne. Dyne had died in a mission he was sent on by Althena, and Ghaleon never forgave her for that. He killed the remaining members of the Dragon Tribe that he knew of and captured the human form of the goddess, enslaving her with his power. He soon had control of the entire world and appeared unstoppable. However, he was defeated by a new Dragonmaster, named Alex, who had fallen in love with Althena's human form, accompanied by four new heroes that accompanied him on his quest. Ghaleon was defeated, and Alex and Luna lived together for the remainder of their lives.

One thousand years after Ghaleon tried to conquer Lunar, it was once again threatened. Zophar, the dark god that had destroyed the Blue Star, had returned to try to conquer Lunar, apparently assisted by the resurrected Ghaleon. His return however awakened Lucia, protector of the Blue Star. She journeyed to Lunar in search of Althena, and on her quest made several friends and fell in love with a young man named Hiro. When Lucia finally reached Althena's palace, it was revealed that Althena decided to remain a human with her beloved Alex and only her power remained of her. She also told Lucia that after living as a human she came to realize that humans have a unique power of their own. This power was the only force that can defeat Zophar once and for all. Lucia however did not believe in the power of humanity, so she claimed Althena's power. When the time came to confront Zophar however, she could not bring herself to use it against Zophar. However, Ghaleon would later betray Zophar, redeeming himself before sending Hiro and company off to their final battle against this dark god, which they were able to defeat through the power of their humanity.

Once Zophar was defeated, Lucia sadly returned to the Blue Star to await the day when it would awaken, despite the love between Hiro and herself. Hiro however refused to let their relationship end this way, and undertook a quest to be reunited with his love. During this quest he reunited the five pieces of a Dragonmaster's equipment before finally traveling to the Blue Star and experiencing his happy reunion with his dear Lucia. Both he and Lucia lived together on the Blue Star for many years, but both also agreed that Lucia should remain a goddess so that the Blue Star can be reborn and protected from harm. Centuries later, Lucia's power combined with the power of Althena she had claimed had grown to such as extent that she was as powerful as Althena was in the ages of old. Then, when the day had finally come to restore the Blue Star, she requested that Althena's Four Dragons, the same ones she had met on her trip to Lunar, to protect her on the Blue Star as they had protected Althena. The Dragons agreed. Now with her protection, she completed the restoration of the Blue Star, but with two catches. The beings living there would have no knowledge of magic, and a magic shield was cast around Lunar. This shield had the effect of making it appear to be desolate and lifeless to anyone from the Blue Star who could not view it or travel to it by means of magic. Without magic, technology once again became the primary aid of humanity. However, Lucia made sure that the beings born on the Blue Star still were capable of possessing the ability to use magic. Even if they lacked the knowledge of how to access it, the ability was there in case the day came where the Blue Star was again threatened by an evil such as Zophar.
