The Fall of Vane

In a time long before a man named Dyne, a time before a boy named Alex fell in love with a girl Luna, and long before the magic guild of Vane had ever heard of Ghaleon. Lunar had been at peace for centuries. The goddess Althena watched over her children. Unfortunately the peace could not last. When people are at peace for too long, they can loose the will to fight. When this is the case, someone usually arises to take advantage of the fact, someone with darkness in their hearts.

Lania Ausa, the leader of the Vane guild, looked up at the sound of a shout. She stood and ran to the window. She was greeted by a sight she thought she would never see. Vane was in flames.

"This... this cannot be!"

She saw creatures running around. They were hideous things, the likes of which she had never seen before. Only very twisted, very evil magic could create such things. But hideous as they are, how could they do this to Vane so quickly? Everyone here could do magic in one degree or another. She would not let this be. She stepped out of the guild mansion.

"Stop!"

A few of the creatures looked up from what they were doing. Lania felt bile rise in her throat. These creatures were not only destroying her city, they were killing her people.

"Foul creatures, I will not allow this."

With a gesture she set three of the nearby creatures ablaze, they screamed and rolled on the ground a few minutes before dying. They weren't that tough... she would...

"Now that's not the way you are supposed to treat guests now it is?"

Lania spun around and gasped. The power she felt from this man... it wasn't possible. He stood there with a slight smirk, his black armor gleaming darkly in the light.

"W-who...?"

"Hmph, soon everyone will have heard of me. You see, Vane is sooo convenient. Why, its flying already and with just a little magic, I can make it go anywhere. Perfect for global conquest, don't you think?"

"I won't allow it!"

He shook his head condescendingly.

"You... can't... stop me."

Lania could feel that he was powerful, but she was Lania, guildmistress of the magic guild of Vane! She raised her arms and a large ball of flame formed above her, she pointed her palms towards the stranger. The fireball sped towards him.

"A ball of fire... how pretty... pretty useless."

He raised one hand in a halting gesture. The ball stopped halfway between them. With a slight wave he sent the fireball back towards Lania. She gathered a shield before her in time to stop the attack. The fireball shattered the shield and threw her backwards.

"Tut tut, now I'll have to punish you."

"No..."

Lania stood and began another spell, this time she would not fail.

"There will be no more magic from you."

The dark armored stranger said a few words under his breath. An aura surrounded Lania. She gasped and fell to her knees. The aura shrank into a glowing ball and moved away from her. The stranger caught the ball and closed his hand, energy crackled around his close fist.

"You... you drained my magic..."

"Yes, and now..."

He drew his sword and advanced towards her.

"I can't let you die without knowing who shall soon be the ruler of this world."

"Please... no."

"I am... the Dark Wizard Zir."

"Z...Zir?"

Lania saw the self-proclaimed dark wizard raise his sword. She saw the sword swinging down towards her. Then Lania saw nothing but darkness.

Zir stood near the edge of Vane, looking out over the land. His cloak blowing in the wind, he leaned forward and smiled.

"Soon... it will all be mine..."

His laughter could be heard all through Vane.
