Off to the left there is a pathway which leads to a metal transport that takes the group to a place called Gold Saucer. An amusement park/casino.
"I'm tired of saving the world," says Ronfar, "Let's party."
Once inside Barret gets ticked off and splits. While looking for him, they meet Dio, the owner of the Gold Saucer. He explains that some guy matching Sephiroth's description was here asking about the Black Materia, but has since left. Moving onward in front of the Arcade and Gaming Area, then meet something called Cait Sith. Which looks like a cat sitting on top of giant marshmallow. He gives the future of the others and then decides to go with them to see if his predictions will come true. Continuing their search, they arrive at the Battle Arena. But, on the steps is a dead Shinra guard. Inside the arena is more of the same. The bodies are full of bullet holes and one guy manages to spit out something about a guy with a gun on his arm before dying. They didn't think that Barret could kill so innocent people so brutally.
"And of course it would have nothing to do with the fact that they've already killed of thousands of Shinra soldiers before hand," comments Hiro.
As they go into the center of the battle arena, so creatures attack them, and then Dio accuses them of killing the innocents from before.
"No, Dio, wait." says Ronfar, "Let's go to the arcade and look for the Real Killers."
Then Dio activates a trap door and sends them down into Corel Prison. They see Barret run off, and following him, they find him in a make shift house in a corner of the prison. He tells the group about a man named Dyne. He and Dyne were friends, but then one day Scarlet, a Shinra big wig, attacked. Both men lost the use of an arm during the fight. But, Scarlet wasn't done. Because of Barret's and Dyne's insolence Scarlet and her troops burned North Corel to the ground. Dyne is still upset about it, and has lost his mind. Barret tracks him down, and they fight. Dyne apologizes about what he did, and gives Barret an old token that was his belonged to his wife to give to his daughter, before killing himself.
"So, ah, you won't really be needing this right?"
Returning to the center of the prison complex, they meet a man whom they hear might be able to get them out of this prison that they've found themselves in. He pretends not to know what your talking about, until he sees Barret's token that he just got from Dyne.
"Ohhh, Big Mr. Mans has shiny, like shiny thing. I help shiny Mr. Mans," says Ronfar in a weird voice.
He then introduces a young lady that will supply a Chocobo. If you race it and win, he'll keep the prize money, but you'll be able to go free.
"Nothing like top notch security," comments Hiro.
Of course, they agree, and after a quick race. Cloud ends up victorious, and the group is free. Dio has since realized his error, and has given them a Land Rover of sorts and the group can now travel faster and across shallow rivers.
"Well thanks," says Lucia, "but, you do realize that I'm still going to sue your ass."
The others look at Lucia with surprised a look on their faces.
"What?"
As the vehicle rolls out of Gold Saucer, they park it just outside of what used to be another Mako planet, until the Mako Reactor there became a useless wreak from some kind of explosion. Arriving there, the Turks are waiting. Reno and Rude stay and fight while Elena goes to warn their leader, Tseng. After a few quick exchanges the Turks retreat. Getting closer to the reactor Tseng and Elena show up and discuss not being able to find something called Huge Materia for some kind of superweapon.
"I sure hope no one is listening in or anything," comments Ronfar.
"Espically since since we are actually on screen," adds Lemina.
Moving on through a valley causes the entire screen to turn dark and red.
"Ohhh! Ahhh!" says the entire group.
The vehicle breaks down, so they have to stop at Cosmo Canyon. A city with a large planetarium on it. This is Red XIII's hometown, and his grandfather reveals his real name to be Nanaki.
"Ah ha! So, you lied about your name?! What else haven't you told us? You were the third gunman on the grassy null weren't you!" demands Jean.
"And does anyone else notice that grandpa is human," says Ronfar, "That mean that he or his offspring would have had to have...."
"Don't go there!" warns Jean.
Red XIII doesn't feel comfortable here, and he seems to blame his father for something that happened a long time ago. So, his grandfather takes them into a labyrinth in which Red XIII finds his father, who died protecting Cosmo Canyon, having known the truth, and with renewed confidence, and the vehicle apparently fixed by now. They head on out, and find themselves at Nibelheim. Only it isn't destroyed. Cloud and Tifa are both shocked to find the town still standing.
"What is going on?" asks Cloud. "I know this town was destroyed."
"Oh no!" shouts Hiro. "Someone must have rebuilt the town. How odd!"
"Especially, with it having been destroyed over ten years ago," adds Lucia.
Going in through town, everything is as it was, except for some strange shadowy figures. In the mansion there are clues about a chest combination, and after the chest is opened a creature called Lost Number attacks.
"How odd," says Lucia.
"What about?" asks Hiro.
"A creature hiding in a locked chest one third their size gets out, and then suddenly becomes three times their size."
"Oh that! They're just defying the simple laws of physics, that's all."
After fighting it, they get a key and some mysterious item called an extreme Limit Break. Using the key in the basement of the building, they find a very shadowy character called Vincent, who seems to know Sephiroth personally. He joins the party, and they continue onward. Going through the mountain pass that Cloud and Tifa are familiar with, they fight a creature called Materia Keeper, apparently another Mako Reactor "accident", and then they move on to Rocket Town.
Here is where the Shinra space program was started, but due to a failed launch, the space program was never able to fully take off.
"Oh, man that was bad," mumbles Lemina, and another twenty ton weight lands on top of her.
However, President Rufus has shown interest in reinvesting in the space program. So the man whom everyone refer to as "The Captain" is fixing up the rocket for inspection.
"Please, God, no! Not William Shatner, anything but him!" screeches Ronfar in near panic. Although, Jean is more than happy enough to bring him to his senses with a quick uppercut to the jaw.
The Captain, in the large rocket, thus giving the town it's name, is busy working hard. His actual name is Cid. He has no interest in talking to the group however, but his assistant, Shera will. She is taking care of his ship, the Tiny Bronco. Cid, doesn't like anyone else touching his ship, so there is no chance for the group to have it. Cid comes in, and mouths off and really lets Shera have it. The group defends her as best they can, but Cid won't have any of it. Just then the Shinra forces arrive. Once Cid leaves, Shera explains that he would have made it into space if she wasn't down in the launch bay area. He could have taken off, but she would have been incinerated, so he aborted. The next day, the Space Program was canceled. He never got another chance to be the world's first astronaut. She fells so guilty about it, that she lets him treat her like crap. President Rufus isn't interested in restarting the space program however. He just wants his ship to follow Sephiroth to the Ancient Temple. A man by the name of Palmer tries to steal the ship, but the group stops him easily. They then steal the ship, and Cid hopes on board. Rufus isn't happy about this and orders his troops to shoot the plane down.
"Ah! Who is flying this thing!" shouts Hiro.
"It must be a woman driver!" returns Ronfar.
"Oh Ronfar," says Jean innocently before she kicks him clear into the next chapter.
