Chapter 9

The group moves the Tiny Bronco and lands on a beachhead in a mountainous area when a pair of Shinra soldiers attack. They are easily defeated, but afterwards Yuffie disappears, and so does ALL of the group's materia. There is a city to the north called Watai. It's the only place where Yuffie could have run off to.

"A thief stealing. OH! What are the odds?!" says Ronfar.

After playing a game of hide and seek with Yuffie throughout town, you eventually track her down. When cornered she says that she'll lead you to where she hid the Materia. But, she throws a trap and runs off again. But, they follow her to a secret hideout of hers, and she gets caught, but by Don Corneo. And he also has the Turk Elena. Then, at the local bar they run into Rude and Reno. They agree to a temporary truce as they both have a stake in getting back at Corneo.

"Yeah, and Cloud wants his panties back," says Ronfar again.

"You would notice that," adds Jean.

After searching through the mountainous area connected right behind Watai, they find Corneo. And he had Elena and Yuffie bound to a large statue. He sends a creature called Rapps after the group, which is a tough fight without magic, but they manage to beat it. After that, Corneo threatens them with the lives of his captives, but the Turks come in and get rid of Corneo, and for saving one of their own, they leave peacefully... this time. Yuffie goes to the main tower in Watai and she fights five bosses on a one-on-one battle, until she fights her father, the powerful Godo.

"Ah, those reunions are always to touching." says Lemina.

After that she gets her ultimate limit break and the Leviaton materia. Now, the group has all their materia back and head back to the Tiny Bronco. Having overheard Rufus from before in Rocketown, they know that Sephiroth is heading for the Temple of the Ancients. They gather information that a Keystone is required to enter. And that Dio at Gold Saucer has it. Having this information, they head to the Gold Saucer to find it. Dio wants Cloud to fight in his battle arena for it. After doing so, Dio gives it to Cloud for fighting.

"Nothing that a little violence, death, and destruction can't solve," says Hiro.

But, the Tram at the Gold Saucer isn't working, so they have to stay at the hotel until it gets fixed. Aeris, according her deal with Cloud, decides this to be a good time to go out on a date with her, according to her agreement with him for being her bodyguard.

"I can be your bodyguard, if you can be long lost pal..." sings Ronfar.

"Don't even start," growls Jean.

But, while they are out and about, they see Cait Sith acting strangely, so they follow him around. They then notice that he is trying to steal the Keystone, but they can't catch him before he gives it to Tseng of the Turks. Cait Sith is a spy. When he is confronted, he wants to stay with the group, for he says he is holding Marlene prisoner in Midgar. But, he knows where the Temple of the Ancients is. Having no choice, they agree.

"Oh sure! You have a spy with us, but at least WE don't built obvious flaws into our hardware!" says Lemina.

The others look at her.

"What? It's been at least four chapters since any kind of engineering jokes have been made. And well, I was beginning to feel bored."

"You ain't the only one," comments Ronfar.

Taking the Tiny Bronco along several islands they come to one that has a large black temple on it. As such, they park the plane and head on in. There they find the dying body of Tseng. He says that Sephiroth was here, and gives them the KeyStone to enter the ancient temple. Traveling through they meet several ancients, however none of them can speak. They eventually arrive at the main corridor where they run into Sephiroth. Here, he tells them about his plan to become one with the planet, by summoning Meteor to come in and strike a deadly blow to the planet. This can only be done with the Black Materia. He then leaves, and the group fights a Red Dragon. At the main pedestal, they find out that the temple itself is the Black Materia. But, the temple has to be activated from the inside, causing the temple to shrink down to the size of a materia. As Cait Sith is a robot, being controlled from elsewhere he is glad to do it.

"Yes! Crush 'em! Kill 'em!" chants Hiro and Ronfar.

The temple shrinks down to the size of a Materia, and another Cait Sith shows up.

"Ah, dang it!" shouts Hiro and Ronfar.

As the group goes down into the pit left behind by the temple, they go to retrieve the Black Materia, but Cloud shows up. Sephiroth manipulates Cloud, and he almost hands the Materia over to him.

"Cloud, what's the matter with you?"

"What does this mean?"

"It means," says Ronfar, "like, that handsome mans just loves to push my buttons. Oh, I just, like, HATE being used by him. But, when he shows up, I'm just tickled pink!"

Cloud passes out.

"Oh Sephiroth!" says Hiro, and the whole group collectively sighs.

Cloud has a dream about Aeris, she has gone to some Ancient City, and has a plan to take care of Sephiroth. But, he is on to her, and follows her.

"Eww, a dream about a woman," says Lucia.

"But, Sephiroth was in it," says Hiro, and the group sighs again.

"But, wait!" says Ronfar. "He's going after that, what do you call 'em?"

"Woman," says Jean.

"Right! No way, my man is going after some flimsy little slut!"

Cloud leads the group to Bone Village where he saw Aeris go in his dream, and through a recently unearthed harp, they make their way through a thick forest to an Ancient City. There they find Aeris on a pedestal of sorts, deeply locked in prayer. Cloud goes up to her alone, and slowly pulls out a sword, raises and gets ready to swing.

"This will teach you not notice me, Sephrey!"

"Kill her! Off with her head!" shouts Lucia.

They look at her strangely.

"What?"

But, Tifa shouts out to Cloud, and he comes to his senses. But, Sephiroth is more than willing to do his own dirty work, and kills her himself, and her White Materia, now glowing brightly, falls to the bottom, and into the waters below. Sephiroth leaves, but leaves behind a Jenova-Life creature for them to fight, which is easily defeated. After that, they lay Aeris to rest in the waters below.
