Chapter 14

Alex and Mathis started their journey across the Lograndian plains. The plains were truly beautiful. Alex was once again reminded of his home, Lunar. He was reminded of his little house in Burg; of the quiet, peaceful life he had lived these past seven years. But that had all changed. He was not on Lunar, but on Lograndia trying to find a way to save his home from the deadly Terranox that was ravaging it at this very moment. He could hardly imagine what unprecedented fear his friends must be feeling; fear of not being able to do anything.

Mathis obviously sensed Alex's immense thought, and asked, "Alex, what are you thinking about?"

Alex was immediately ejected from his train of thought and answered, "Oh nothing. Just thinking of home."

"It must be hard," Mathis said, "Not knowing what's going on on your planet."

Alex looked back down at him and said, "Never mind that. We've got to get to Hamletia." The two continued their through the seemingly endless plains of Lograndia.

Nash's transportation spell had brought them all to safety. They were gone from the fiery melee of blaze that Xenobia had conjured up. Xenobia. Everyone was still in shock of how she could be alive. Everyone that is, except Jessica. The only thing Jessica was wondering was how to get revenge.

"I'm gonna kill her."

"What?" Kyle asked in astonishment. It was the first thing she had said since they saw the burning city over the horizon.

"You heard me. I'm gonna kill her! First she turned my father to stone, then I thought I killed her. But now, she's back and she torched the city to cinders and killed all those people and, and, and," Jessica shut her eyes tight and clenched her fists. Finally, Jessica erupted in a roar of emotion. "My father! The witch killed my father!" Jessica burst into tears as she clenched her husband's chest.

Kyle, still amazed at the outburst that Jessica had just displayed, was speechless. He could only think of one thing to say that might calm her down. "Don't worry Jess, I'm sure your father survived."

Nash pulled his attention away from the weeping Jessica, and looked into the abyss in front of him. Mia approached Nash and asked, "Nash, where are we?"

Nash continued to stare into the black abyss. "It was Vane. Now all that remains is nothingness." Nash looked toward Mia with desperate eyes. "Mia, do you actually think we can stop Terranox?"

Even Mia's almost eternal optimism was dwindling. Nonetheless, she managed to say confidently, "Sure we can! We just have to never give up hope, and we can accomplish anything."

"Hope! How the hell are we supposed to have hope when Terranox is eating up everything on the planet, and Xenobia is running rampant creating havoc again! And to top it all off, we don't even have a Dragonmaster anymore. Face it Mia, we're doomed."

Mia's face dropped her optimistic glow. Nash was right and Mia knew it. "I know it seems hopeless Nash, but we can't just sit here and do nothing."

Jessica, who had inadvertently heard their whole conversation, rose up in a heat of anger. "Would you two shut up! I don't care how hopeless it is, or how many foes we have to go up against. I'm gonna personally kill that witch Xenobia. I'll go myself if you are all to scared to come. So, who's with me!"

Kyle jumped up and put his arm around Jessica's shoulder. "No matter what happens, I'll be beside you. Now let's go kick some Terranox butt!"

Jessica eyed him maliciously. Her eyes were filled with an anger and hatred that has never been seen before. She looked over at Nash and Mia, giving them same stare.

"I'm in," Mia said. "We must protect Lunar at any cost. Just as Alex would have done."

Nash also headed towards the three. "What the hell. If I'm gonna die, might as well die fighting." The party was now formed, and they were ready to fight. No matter what came in their way, they would fight through. Although they had no idea what to do, a ray of hope shined in each of their eyes.

Byron appeared in the Underworld. He was ready to accomplish his mission for his master. He had to find out what sick nutcase would revive Xenobia. He didn't know who could be stupid enough to bring her back. Then again, humans always were a rather stupid race.

Byron headed to the lair of Metrom, the ruler of the Underworld. His lair smelled like decay. The walls were a fiery scarlet red. In front of him sat Metrom himself. Metrom was a jade colored beast. He had a long tail that wrapped around his obese body. Metrom's two hands had five long, serpent-like fingers, that slithered as if they had a mind of their own.

"Ha, ha, ha, ha," snorted the obese beast. "What does the God of Destiny want of me."

Byron was disgusted at the creature's raunchy breath. Nonetheless, he managed to keep down his bile and answer him. "I came to see who resurrected Xenobia. Do you have any idea who did it.?"

"Ha, ha, ha , ha, ha, ha. Resurrect Xenobia!? Nobody resurrected Xenobia. She is still being tormented in the lower bowels of Hell as we speak."

Byron was really starting to get annoyed at this guy. Did all his fat go to his brain? "What do you mean nobody resurrected her!? She's wreaking havoc on Lunar right now you fat oaf!"

Metrom gave another round of his putrid laughter. "Call what you wish, but if you don't believe me go down and ask her yourself. She's right there." Metrom pointed his hand and a small black portal opened up.

Byron looked into the portal to see what was there. To his surprise, he saw Xenobia being tortured by one of Hell's best torturers. "I don't believe it!"

"Believe, my friend. Xenobia never left her eternal torture chamber. You must have someone else up there."

Byron didn't care to answer. He just turned and left. Byron was a bit embarrassed, but more worried. Someone was able to be a perfect duplicate of Xenobia. Who else could be that evil?
