Chapter 4

"Master Nash?" asked a young wizard as he walked into Nash's room at the Guild.

"Yes, Gall," Nash responded.

"There has been another earthquake near Nanza."

"Another quake!?" Nash screamed. "That's the fourth one this week! How big was the chasm?" Nash asked.

"Five feet across, three feet wide wide," Gall responded. "The largest one so far."

"They keep getting worse," Nash sighed, "Did anyone get hurt?"

"Yes," Gall looked at the floor and sighed, "a young boy fell in."

"Damn!" Nash screamed as he slammed his fist down on the table.

Nash's wife Mia walked into the room holding their daughter Lena in her arms. "What's going on in here?" Mia asked looking around the room.

"There's been another quake," Gall answered her.

"Oh..." Mia sighed.

"And five hundred silver says that they weren't natural!" Nash said as he started to walk toward the window.

"But who whould do such a terrible thing?" Mia asked.

"Who knows? Maybe a rouge sorceror, maybe a crazed inventor," Nash answered still looking out the window. "But what I do know is that we have to stop him!" Nash spun around and glanced at Gall. "Gall, send some wizards to the locations of the quakes. See if you can find any evidence of magic energy. Send letters to all major towns explaining the situation. And finally, send some wizards over to Taben's Tower. Something tells me he might have something to do with this."

"You got it Nash!" Gall turned around and ran out the door.

Mia walked up to Nash and asked, "Do you really think Taben could have something to do with this?"

"I don't know Mia, I just don't know," Nash answered. "Things have just been so hectic. I became the Premier of Vane, we had to rebuild the whole city, you gave birth to our daughter, and now, when Vane finally starts to get back on its feet, this happens," Nash sighed as he looked at his daughter. "I just hope Lena has a safe world to grow up in."

Mia looked over at her husband and said, "Don't worry Nash, I'm sure things will work out. If we ever want our daughter to grow up in a peaceful world, we just have to never give up. This problem is just another obstacle."

"Yeah I know," Nash admitted. "I just hope the rest of Lunar has the same hope and determination that you do. I don't know what I'd do if you weren't there to cheer me up."

"Nash don't even go there." Mia was nearly interrupted when Lena started to cry. "Shhh, it's all right, Mommy's right here," Mia said to Lena as she walked out of the office. Nash just smiled and followed right behind her.
