Jessica has just gotten back from a shrine to Althena, and she opened the door to her house. She walked in and saw Kyle sitting down in a chair.
"Hi Kyle." Jessica said to her husband. Kyle gave no response. He just gave her a solemn look. "Kyle, what's wrong?" Jessica asked starting to worry. Still no response. Kyle stood up and unsheathed his sword. He walked toward Jessica with a very stern face. Kyle raised up his sword.
"Kyle, What are you doing? Kyle!? No!" Jessica tried to dodge, but it was too late, Kyle's sword was swift and deadly, cutting her in two.
"Kyle!? No!" Jessica screamed as she awoke from her nightmare. Her face, dripping with sweat, her mind, full of terror.
"Jessica? What happened?" Kyle asked as he started to wake up. He got no response from Jessica. She was shaking, entranced in a haze of fear. That's when Kyle realized what had happened. "You had another nightmare didn't you?" Kyle asked her.
Jessica started to awake from the trance, but still faced forward. "Yes it was a nightmare, but not like the others."
"What do you mean Jess?" Kyle asked her.
Jessica turned and faced her husband. "There was no quake. I walked inside and you, you," she stopped and started to cry.
"What did I do Jess?" Kyle asked. "What did I do?"
Jessica stopped crying and looked at Kyle. "You, killed me."
Kyle was immediately taken back by what she said. It was true that alot of her dreams came true but, this was different. "Would I actually kill my own wife?" he asked himself. He shook the thought away, and returned to comforting his wife. "Jessica," Kyle said as he embraced her, "I would never hurt you, you know that."
"I know," Jessica answered, "It's just that, It was so real. Kyle, What's wrong with me?"
Kyle looked deep into her eyes looking for the right thing to say, for he himself didn't know. "I don't know much about this priest stuff, but something evil must be tormenting you somehow. There is no way these are natural dreams. Tommorow we'll go see the High Priest Morrin, he might be able to help you. A husband's comforting can only go so far, you need another priest's help."
Jessica wiped the tears from her eyes and said, "Your right, tommorow we'll get Morrin's help. Then we'll get some sense out of this."
"For know though, we should get some sleep." Kyle knew that neither of them would get much sleep. They never do when Jessica has a nightmare. He just hoped Morrin could help her.
Jessica and Kyle awoke bright and early to head toward the Althena's Shrine. Morrin had been a good friend ever since Jessica became a High Priestess. He was about Mel's age, and had a kind heart. they knew he would help them.
When they arrived at the shrine, Morrin was there to greet them. "Hello Jessica," Morrin said, "what brings you here this early?"
"I have a favor to ask you." Jessica told him. "I've been getting these fierce nightmares lately, and I don't know what's causing them. We thought you could help me."
Morrin looked at the both of them and said, "Why of course I'll help you. Jessica, come over and lay on the altar." Morrin led them to the altar where Jessica layed down on. Morrin raised his hands and chanted, "Great goddess Althena, lend me your power so I may see into this poor girl's soul and detect the cause of her troubles." A white light filled the shrine and enveloped Jessica. Kyle looked at Morrin, but he was entranced in some sort of spell.
"Ah yes," Morrin finnaly said, "I thought your aura was strangely powerful."
"What is it Morrin?" Kyle asked in concern.
"It is nothing to be concerned about Kyle," Morrin assured him, "in fact you should be proud. For I sence the aura of another soul inside of her. Kyle, your wife is pregenant."
For a moment the joy of being a father made Kyle forget the reason they came. He would have time to celebrate later. "What about the nightmares?" Kyle asked Morrin.
"Jessica's soul is as pure as the goddess, but I'm not sure about the child." Morrin became entranced in the spell again. All of a sudden, the white light turned an ominous black.
"W.w.what's going on!" Kyle screamed at Morrin. Morrin couldn't answer. Kyle could see the agony on his face.
"AAAAAAAAAGHH!" Morrin screamed as the light flew him backwards into a column. Kyle immediately rushed to his wife.
"Jess are you all right!?"
Jessica got up and put her hand on her head. "Ungh. Yeah, I'm allright, how about Morrin?"
"I'm fine too," Morrin answered walking back to them.
"So what happened there?" Kyle asked.
"Jessica's unborn child has the ability to draw power from every possible source. Some evil entity must have taken advantage of it and possessed the very soul of the child."
"Caica.
"HA, HA ,HA ,HA ,HA ,HA ,HA ,HA ,HA, YOU CAN'T JUST GET RID OF ME YOU FOOLS," laughed an ominous voice that seemed to echo from everywhere. "I AM TERRANOX, RULER OF DARKNESS! YOU MAY HAVE PURGED ME FROM THIS GIRL'S SOUL, BUT MY DARKNESS IS ALREADY SPREADING ALL OVER LUNAR! JESSICA, WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A TASTE OF THE POWER YOU HAVE ONLY DREAMT ABOUT? HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!" With that, the darkness vanished from the shrine.
"What was that all about?" Kyle asked.
"I don't know but-" Morrin was interrupted when the ground started to shake.
"This is what he must have meant by a power I dreamt about." Jessica said.
"Enough talk," Kyle shouted, "let's get out of here!"
The three ran toward the door, but columns were falling everywhere. A huge chasm appeared in front of them. Kyle jumped over it but Jessica slipped.
"Kyle help me!" she shouted as the chasm widened.
"Hold on Jess!" Kyle hollered back as he jumped across, picked her up, and jumped over again. "Morrin come on!" Kyle shouted back to Morrin.
"The gap is too large Kyle. You two run."
"What are you saying Morrin?!" Jessica asked confused.
"Run, save yourselves and your unborn child."
"Morrin no!" Jessica screamed.
"Come on Jess, let's go!" Kyle picked her up and ran out the door.
Just as they escaped, the chasm widened, swallowing the entire shrine. "Poor Morrin." Jessica said as she looked at the hole.
"Don't worry Jess. He sacrificed his life to save ours."
"Your right. He saved us, and our child." Kyle put his hand around her shoulder. "Our child," Jessica said, "our child." Jessica looked up at Kyle and they kissed.
