Orders of the Goddess

The Dragonship Destiny sailed through the sea without any help from the wind. It had taken off from Azado, and was now on its way to the Holy City of Pentagulia, where Goddess Althena resided.

White Knight Leo, captain of the ship, emerged from his personal quarters onto the deck, his scarlet cape trailing behind him. He wore a white dress suit. A horn protruded from his forehead. The seal of Althena's Chosen was made into a brooch.

"Helmsman, how long until we make it to Pentagulia?" Leo asked, his voice deep and serious.

"About fifteen minutes at our current speed, Lord Leo," the helmsman replied. "Going just a bit faster, we may be able to cut the time by five minutes."

"Do that, then," Leo said. He left into a door from the deck into an anteroom.

The room's centerpiece was a statue of the Goddess, Althena. It was magical, and it was widespread knowledge that the statue was able to heal one who prayed to the Goddess in front of it (and usually a little more than healing if you donated your silver to it). Leo knelt in front of the statue and prayed.

When he finished, he emerged onto the deck yet again. He was pleased to see the island that Pentagulia had been erected on in the distance. Seeing the gigantic Shrine to Althena always somehow brought joy and humility to Leo.

The White Knight flattened the wrinkled on his clothes as best as he could. He made sure his sword was in its proper place. He ran his fingers through his blue hair.

The Destiny docked.

As he stepped onto the docks of Pentagulia, Leo inhaled the clean air, taking in and savoring its rich taste.

"Welcome back to Pentagulia, Lord Leo," a guard at the dock said, nodding to the horned man.

"It's nice to see you again, Haren," Leo replied.

"The Goddess awaits," Haren said.

Leo walked through the city. Everywhere he could see happy people, who were glad to be in the presence of Althena.

He entered the Shrine. Marching through the winding halls, the White Knight smiled as people greeted him and welcomed his return.

He stopped when he saw his sister, Mauri. She, too, sported the same horn Leo did.

"Mauri," he said. "It's good to see you again."

Hugging her brother, Mauri replied, "It's good to see you, too, Leo." She looked into his eyes hopefully. "Have you seen Ronfar?"

Leo sighed and shook his head. "Unfortunately, no. However, I have heard rumors that he now settles in Larpa. When I am finished with what Althena commands me, I will search Larpa for you."

"Thank you, brother..." Mauri said. "I miss him..."

Leo frowned. "So do I, Mauri... so do I." With that he turned and walked to the Grand Hall of the Shrine. Approaching it, he took a deep breath and knocked upon the doors.

"Come in," a sweet, soothing voice called. The doors opened by themselves.

Leo walked as straight as he could up the red carpet before him. He saw the Goddess at the end of the hall.

He fell to one knee when he came within two meters of Althena. "My Lady, I am here."

The woman's hair was long and black. She was dressed in many robes and jewelry. She held a staff that clanked with rings. Her very aura could put one into a state of awe.

"Lord Leo, White Knight of Althena..." she said. "Rise, young one." Leo rose. "I understand that you are considered the greatest man of My Chosen Ones. You are the most loyal and strongest." Leo hung his head in humility. "And humble, too! I like that in a worshipper. Lord Leo, being my favorite of the Chosen, I have decided to give you a special, important task." At that, Leo's wolf-like ears perked up. "A task that will distinguish you as my most loyal servant in many eons. Perhaps as much as Dragonmaster Alex!"

At that, Leo stepped back, his mouth agape. Dragonmaster Alex was the most powerful man in history. Using the power of Althena and the Four Dragons, and combining his power with that of the rest of the Five Heroes--Nash, Kyle, Mia, and Jessica--he killed Magic Emperor Ghaleon. And using the magic of his harp, Alex brought Goddess Althena from Ghaleon's dark spell which bound her to darkness.

"Goddess Althena," he said slowly, "what would you have of me?"
